Ben (My Rob and Kite) is my main open dog right now. He's almost 9 and we do have some good moments. We finished 2nd at the LeBar trial in Wyoming and had other just-out-of-the-money finishes at other trials. I'm hoping that Ben will give me another couple of good years on the trial field. I had a wonderful opportunity this year when I was invited to be a member of the US team for the 2008 World Trial in Wales. I had never been overseas so there were a lot of firsts for me and Ben. The trip was 2 weeks of fun, traveling, driving, meeting people and even competing in a trial or two. While I didn't win anything at the World, it was so great to compete with so many great handlers from all over the world.
Dan is my other open dog. He's five and just moved up to open. He's out of Tony Stewart's Bess and Dan Keeton's Bob. He's a sweet boy and just needs to be a little more forward on some of our tough range ewes. This picture is of our outrun at the Kelley Creek trial in Utah.
I have a few up and coming youngsters: Gwen, Chris and Rose. Gwen and Chris are just starting formal training. Rose is still a baby and although she wants to go to sheep, I can't call her off yet!
Gwen (Bill Money's Wicked and Blue)
Chris (Tim Naasz's Ryn and Shannon Fritz's Jim)
Rose (Roy Goutte's Chief and Missie)
